PROJECT: 3 St Peter’s Square, Manchester
CLIENT: Russell WBHO
MARKET SECTOR: Hotels & Leisure
PRODUCTS USED: Technal Windows and Curtain Walling
RED PROJECT VALUE: £1.6m
Requirement
Following on from RED’s previous successful schemes with Russells Construction (now known as Russell WBHO following a merger in 2018), RED were engaged to provide a solution for this city centre hotel development. There were 3 main challenges to overcome during the tender stage, 1) high acoustic values to be achieved; 2) development of a bespoke vertical brise soleil feature; 3) all windows to be installed at an off-site Pre-Cast Concrete facility.
Background
The development comprises of 2 hotels stacked on top of each other – Motel One and Stay City. The city centre plot was on a postage stamp and site access was particularly difficult, hence why it leant itself to an off-site modern method of construction.
Design
Design detailing was quite challenging due to the way the PCC panels are vertically stacked. However, the RED Pre-Construction team were given the opportunity to get involved in the scheme at very early stages and develop a robust detail and bespoke PCC bracketry in conjunction with the project team at Russell WBHO.
