Requirement

Working alongside one of our Key Clients – Barratt London, RED were initially tasked with providing a full mock-up of the proposed window system in order to achieve planning approval against quite stringent requirements. Service was absolutely paramount on this site as the construction phase was fast-paced and an efficient window installation with minimal snagging was required in order for our client to hit programme and get their tenants into the properties quickly.

Background

This new residential development is set within a conservation area on a site formerly occupied by the National Institute for Medical Research.

The project consists of several blocks of high-quality apartments and houses. To date, RED have undertaken work on Blocks D, E, F & H as well as the Marketing Suite. The overall scheme will complete in late 2021.

Design

With the nature of high-end residential schemes, the critical aspects of Security, Accessibility, Weathertightness and High Thermal Ratings had to be demonstrated. There was also some potentially tricky interface details and feature pressings which had to be well thought out. But what was really encouraging was that as each block progressed, our client worked with us, took on board our technical comments and incorporated our details into their design. This meant that subsequent phases could then be accelerated through the design stage.

I would like to thank you for your hard work... Since we commenced demolition in February last year [2018] a lot of works have been completed… This has not been without challenges… but overall I hope you have all enjoyed it and have learnt what to (and sometimes what not to) do and that we carry this on... Please keep up the good work.
